Gonder Antique Gold Vase, H-56Offered for auction: My goodness, how to try to describe this vase? All the wonderful elegance, style, glamour, or kitsch of Gonder, rolled into one piece! A wonderfully decorated two-handled vase from the master of avant-garde pottery, Gonder. In business from 1941 to 1957 in South Zanesville, Ohio, Gonder Ceramics Arts, Inc., made high-priced art pottery. This vase is marked on the base with the number and GONDER USA. It measures 8.5 inches in height, 6.75 inches wide at the rim, and 4 inches deep at the rim. This vase is glazed ouside in turquoise and gold, with a craquelure finish; inside the rim, the blue drips down onto a pink interior. It is in terrific condition. The only flaw is a tiny glaze flake about the size of the head of a pin on the back rim; there is also some dirt on the interior. Otherwise, this piece sparkles, with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or crazing. |
Vase H-56 is identified at the Gonder Museum as "Antique Gold." This is truly a stunning piece of Gonder! |
