Hyalyn
Centerpiece Bowl: Mid-20th Century North Carolina Pottery |
||
This wonderfully elegant mid-century modern centerpiece bowl from Hyalyn Pottery is in good condition, and presents a lovely, modern shape with its sleek design and semi-matte white finish. This large, heavy piece measures 17.5 inches long, almost 5 inches wide at the center, and 3 inches in height at the ends. The bottom has a raised mark that reads "hyalyn / 308 / USA." It also has an old original paper label on the inner side (visible in the photos). This bowl has no cracks, chips, or flakes. There are very light stress hairlines (top photo at right) around the rim edge, and light crazing throughout (which has darkened in one spot, 2nd photo at right). Hyalyn Porcelain (as it was originally called) was founded in 1947 in Hickory, North Carolina. This piece makes a great addition to either your Southern pottery or your Eames-era collection. |
