9-inch Uhl
Egyptian Jug
Rich Delphinium Blue Glaze
A nicely shaped "Egyptian jug" that I believe was made by Uhl Pottery. This piece has a nice speckled blue glaze that I believe is called Delphinium Blue. The jug measures 9 inches high at the top of the spout, and 2.75 inches wide across the unglazed foot. This solid piece is in very good condition, with only a couple of bumps or light areas of glaze original to manufacture. Any white spots in the photo are due to camera flash.
The bottom has an unglazed footring; there is no sign of a mark that I can find. This shape is shown on page 32 of the Feldmeyer-Holtzman Uhl Pottery Identification & Value Guide. Price: $15.00.

Perhaps Uhl (or maybe
Camark?)
Delphinium Blue Glaze
This
large dark blue jug (or ewer bottle) is marked on the front
with embossed letters for "DuBouchett." DuBouchett
is the maker of a wide variety of brandies and liquers, so
this pottery jug likely held some variety of alcoholic beverage.
It isn't marked, but the shape, feel, and blue glaze made
me think immediately of Uhl--but I have not been able to
find any reference to identify it as such.
This
solid piece is in very good condition. It measures 9 inches high at
the top of the rim and about 4.75 inches wide across the ball-shaped
lower half. There are no chips or cracks or crazing; any white spots
in the photos are due to camera flash.
The
bottom has an exposed foot ring, with white clay, but no sign of a
mark. Price: $10.00. |
