Royal
Winton, Staffordshire, England With a lovely shape and design, this old plate from Royal Winton / Grimwades has an elegant richly classical (floral) decoration. It features an urn filled with flowers on a pedestal, and in the background is a classical temple and trees. It is all held together by a rich green border and gold trim on the rim and verge. This pretty piece measures 8.75 inches wide at the middle. I believe this would be appropriate for a salad plate. It is in good condition, with no chips, cracks, or fleabites. There is overal light crazing, particularly around the curvature of the center. The gold trim is very intact and solid around the rim and verge. This piece is marked on the bottom with a green stamp for "Royal Winton / Grimwades / Made in England." This round mark was used between 1934 and 1950. There is also an under-the-glaze handwritten mark in gold. Price: $25.00. |
