On the north side of the river is the large Letna Park. Taking the ever-friendly tram, we wound our way past pretty churches up hilly streest, to find the rather imposing Narodni Technicke Museum, or National Technical Museum. | |

Travelling with a science buff means that I find myself in museums that many people would miss. Visiting this museum was almost like having a private tour; as you can see from the pictures, it wasn't exactly crowded! And it was really fun and interesting. I learned about Skoda, racing bikes from the 1890s, racing cars from the 1920s, plus boats, planes, and trains made in the Czech Republic. After viewing all four levels of the grand Transport Hall, we toured the gallery on accoustics (making lots of noise as we did so) and then walked upstairs to the exhibit on astronomy, where we saw Tycho Brahe's sextants. |
